It is important not to plant frost sensitive vegetables before the risk of a late spring frost has passed.  This guide is designed to help vegetable gardeners in the Ballarat area determine when it is safe to plant frost sensitive vegetables.  Though it may also be of use to gardeners in cool mountainous areas.   Traditionally the risk of frost in the Ballarat area is deemed to have passed on Melbourne Cup Day, which is the first Tuesday in November.
